What is OptiFound?
OptiFound is envisioned to audit and optimize all types of foundation designs. OptiFound performs design safety audit, design optimization to reduce cost of construction.
OptiFound is in Proof of Concept stage and audits structural safety for isolated footings. OptiFound accepts design inputs from structure design software, including eTabs from CSI and STAD from Bentley Systems.
How OptiFound Works:
OptiFound requires foundation design inputs namely material and soil properties, forces and moments for various load cases.
It performs a complete safety audit by performing
Soil stability checks - bearing pressure, sliding, overturning
Structural checks like flexure and shear
Design validations like bearing, dowels
Detailing checks on thickness, bar size, spacing, cover
It evaluates all load combinations, identifies the governing case for each check, and reports design safety with clear utilization metrics. The design is marked safe as all checks pass.Â
